Josh Price hit back brilliantly at Thruxton to claim a double overall podium, and a double graduate class victory.
Thruxton played host to the 5th and 6th round of the Renault Clio UK Championship. After a frustrating Donington, Team Pyro and BMR driver Josh Price hit the ground running with a great turn of speed!Timed Qualifying saw Price excel, taking 3rd fastest time overall in both Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2, where the 2nd fastest lap makes up the grid for the second race.
Price would be lining up as the lead Graduate Cup driver in both races. The first race saw Price maintain his 3rd position off the line and broke away with the leading two as the race approached half way. Price made his move into second with three laps to go, and latched onto the back of the leader. In a tense end to the race, Josh held onto 2nd, just 0.5s off the overall race win, whilst taking the Graduate Cup Honours.
The second race in the hot conditions again seemed to favour Price. Despite being dropped to 4th at the start, Price kept the pressure on for the final podium spot throughout the race. Eventually on lap 6 he made his move into 3rd. By this time the front two had broken away with a gap back to the BMR Backed Pyro Driver.
Price managed to reel off some fast laps to break the slipstream behind him, pulling out a 2.5s gap to his pursuers, taking the flag in 3rd position to bank another podium finish and Graduate Cup victory.
The impressive showing at Thruxton has vaulted Price up the championship standings. After 6 rounds, Price is currently 7th overall on 91 points, just ten points off his next rival and also Graduate Cup leader Max Coates.
In the graduate cup standings, Price is 2nd overall with 139 points after his Donington race one DNF dented his score.
Rounds 7 and 8 will be takiing place in a months time at the drivers favourite Oulton Park Circuit on the 4th-5th June, where Josh Price will be aiming to maintain his podium scoring form as he bids to build on this achievement and push for race victories.
