Clio Cup Graduate and Team Pyro driver Josh Price, took his maiden victory in the Renault Clio Cup after a brilliant drive in the final round of the championship at Brands Hatch
The Clio Cup UK Season finale took place at Brands Hatch, around the historic Grand Prix circuit.
Mixed conditions on the Saturday saw the weather change from wet to dry seemingly every half an hour! Qualifying took place in very wet conditions. In a stop start session, Team Pyro driver Josh Price set the 7th fastest time overall, with his second best lap good enough for 6th position start in the second race of the weekend.
Race one saw Price make a lightning getaway, taking 4th position early on and straight into the fight for the podium places.
An early crash saw a lengthy safety car period - during which the race leader made a mistake warming up his tyres, promoting Price up to 3rd position.
The two leaders began to fight, opening the door for Price to sweep through and take the lead! He lead the race into the final lap until a bold move by rival Paul Rivett,saw Price finish just behind him in 2nd at the chequered flag - taking the Graduate win in the process.
Race two once again saw a brilliant getaway from the line from Price to get himself again into 4th position. In the championship deciding fight, the three leaders up ahead collided, spearing one driver into the barrier and demoting the other two - Price took full advantage to sneak through and take the lead of the race! He reeled off the laps in commanding style to pull out a 1.8s lead over his nearest rival to take the chequered flag, and his first win of the season in the championship to the delight of his team!"What a race! The results from Brands Hatch mean Price claimed 6th overall in the final standings, aswell as 2nd overall in the Graduate Cup.
